Movelat Gel

Movelat Gel

Movelat Gel is a mild to moserate anti-inflammatory and analgesic preperation which, when applied to the skin, provides relief from muscular pain and stiffness sprains and strains and pain due to rheumatic and non-serious arthritic conditions.

The body produces a chemical called prostaglandin in response to injury or certain diseases. Prostaglandins are responsible for causing swelling, pain and inflammation. Mucopolysaccharide one of the active ingredients in Movelat Gel reduces these effects as well as improving the blood supply to the skin. Salicylic acid is the other active ingredient and helps to break down keratin a protien that forms part of the skin structure by helping to remove skin cells. This action helps for better penetration of the ingredient mucopolysaccharide.

  • Movelat Gel contains:
Carbomer, disodium edetate, isopropyl alcohol, polyethylene glyceryl mono-oleate, rosemary oil, monoethanolamine and water. The active ingredients are: o.2% w/w of anti-inflammatory and anelgesic drug mucopolysaccharide polysulphate together with 2.0% w/w of the absorption-enhancing agent salicylic acid in a colorless gel base.

Directions for use:
You should follow the directions given you by your doctor or pharmacist. If this gel was given you by your doctor he will have given instruction on the use of the gel on your prescription. These instruction will then be printed by the pharmacist on to a label which will be adhered to the carton/tube.

The manufacturers guide lines are: between 2 and 6 inches (5-15cm) of gel should be applied to the area at any one time. Do not apply the gel more than four times daily. You should wash your hands immedediately after applying the gel, unless your hands are the area being treated. Movelat Gel is not to be used on large areas of skin(e.g. the whole of the back), broken or sensitive skin or on mucous membranes.

    • Hi Winnie
I can understand you being unsure especially when you have some doctors saying yes, use Movelat and others saying don’t use it. You say you have used Movelat Gel before and it brought you great relief, I assume you stopped using it because some doctors were not sure about using the gel, and not because you had a bad experience, then I would go with the doctors and the pharmacist who say it would be al-right for you to use. (Please be aware this is only my opinion and not a diagnosis we can not interfere with your doctors diagnosis).

Movelat Gel does not normally cause unwanted side effects. If you keep a watch on how you are feeling and the area you are using it on, as long as there is no evidence of unwanted side effects such as redness, a Burning sensation or rash which may happen to individuals with sensitive skin, or your health starts to suffer in some other way that would be out of the ordinary for you then it may be OK to use.

If you do have problems (which may be more of an annoyance than a serious problem) with the gel you should stop using it and go back to see your doctor, hopefully he will be able to prescribe another gel or cream you can use.

We hear at Medibolism wish you well.

  • Can Movelat gel be used at the same time as Buprenorphine 10 Microgram/hour patch.

    • Hi P J Hunt
Almost all medication can interfere with the body’s normal function. Some can be used with various medicines, while some others would be a definite no. However, there are some that can be taken if the benefits to the individual out weigh the medications possible risk.

I have been unable to find any information on testing the interaction between Movelat Gel and Buprenorphine patchs. Whether that be good or bad I don’t know. It just means I was unable to find any bad press on the interaction of the two medicines you ask about at this moment in time. The gel does not normally cause unwanted side effects and is known to be well tolerated by a great number of individuals. If you keep a watch on how you are feeling and the area you are using the gel on, as long as there is no evidence of unwanted side effects such as redness, a burning sensation or rash which may happen to individuals with sensitive skin, or your health starts to suffer in some other way that would be out of the ordinary for you then it may be OK to use.

Please be aware this is only my opinion and not a diagnosis we can not interfere with your doctors diagnosis or undermine his/her judgement.

If you do have problems (which may be more of an annoyance than a serious problem) with the gel you should stop using it and go back to see your doctor, hopefully he will be able to prescribe another gel or cream you can use.
